Welcome to your weekly dose of the QC Quail. Today’s post is
another status update on the Augustana Market. Throughout this week, the team
made some major strides in the user-friendliness of the marketplace. We
implemented an instant search feature through Algolia, a helpful search site and
API. The search feature makes sifting through many items a complete breeze. A picture of the search implementation is
below.
On top of the search feature, we also gave users the ability
to edit their posted items in case they type something incorrectly when creating
it. Additionally, when creating an item to sell, the user can now upload images of
their personal items they are selling, and if it is a book, they can input its
ISBN number to auto populate some of the fields, thanks to Google Books API.
Finally, the QC team spent a lot of time this week working
on refactoring our code to significantly increase the clarity of our codebase.
While creating a user-friendly app is important, keeping our code clean is another
priority for the team.
That is all we have for you today but make sure to tune in
next week for another update.
